Intro [25 Jan 2005|11:47pm]

Hey y'all. I'm new to this community, so I'll give you the run-down.

I'm Sarah, I'm 17 and from New York. I was confirmed into the Dutch Reformed Churh/ Reformed Church in America. I became a Christian in 2002 when I went to MidWinter Advance in New Jersey. The year before had been pretty rough for me. My cousin attempted suicide, my grandmother died, and my cousin's son tried to kill me. Since then, I've rededicated myself at the Altar Call at Midwinter three times, I'm hoping that this year is the last time I have to do that. My favorite Bible verses are Romans 5:3-5, Isaiah 40:31, Acts 4:12, Psalm 121:3, and Psalm 55:22. I don't read the Bible as literally as most do, and as many tell me I should do, but I use it more for guidance. If I'm faced with a rough choice, I pray to God to help and I let it fall open to whatever page it does, and read for the answer to my choice, like a Holy horoscope almost.

Well, I think that's it for me...

I'm coming back to the heart of worship
And it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus
I'm sorry, Lord, for the thing I've made it
When it's all about You,
It's all about You, Jesus

Prayer Chain [13 Aug 2003|04:56pm]

[ mood | hungry ]

I just recieved this as an e-mail forward but since I am paranoid, I usually just delete forwards. Yet this one as I read it and was actually moving my mouse towards the "delete" button. I stopped and could not delete it. So here it is, modified to fit LiveJournal ...

~*~*~*~*~

When there is nothing left but God, that is when you find out that God is all you need. Take 60 seconds and give this a shot! All you do is simply say the following small prayer for the person who posted this:

Father, God bless _______ in whatever it is that You know he/she may be needing this day! And may ____________'s life be full of your peace, prosperity and power as he/she seeks to have a closer relationship with you.

Amen.

Now take this and post it in your journal and those who read it will take the prayer and post it in their journal and so on and so forth.

Within hours God only knows how many people have prayed for you, and you caused a multitude of people to pray for other people. Then sit back and watch the power of God work in your life.

~*~*~*~*~

Simple right? Lets try it. We have nothing to lose and blessings to gain!

"give us clean hands" [10 Aug 2003|04:06pm]

singswithboys
We bow our Hearts
We bend our knees
Oh Spirit come make us humble
We turn our eyes from evil things
Oh Lord we cast out our idols

So give us clean hands
Give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another
Give us clean hands
Give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another
Oh God let us be
A generation that seeks
Seeks your face
Oh God of Jacob
Oh God let us be
A generation that seeks
Seeks your face
Oh God of Jacob

We bow our Hearts
We bend our knees
Oh Spirit come make us humble
We turn our eyes from evil things
Oh Lord we cast out our idols

So give us clean hands
Give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another
Give us clean hands
Give us pure hearts
Let us not lift our souls to another
Oh God let us be
A generation that seeks
Seeks your face
Oh God of Jacob
Oh God let us be
A generation that seeks
Seeks your face
Oh God of Jacob

We bow our hearts
We bend our knees
Oh Spirit come make us humble

Measure of a Man by 4Him [31 May 2003|10:37pm]

amazeofgrace
[ mood | content ]

This world can analize and size you up
And throw you on the scales
They can I.Q. you and run you through
Their rigorous details
They can do their best to rate you
And they'll place you on the charts
And then back it up with scientific smarts
But there's more to what you're worth
Than their human eyes can see

Chorus
Oh, I say the measure of a man
Is not how tall you stand
How wealthy or intelligent you are
'Cause I've found out the measure of a man
God knows and understands
For He looks inside to the bottom of your heart
And what's in the heart defines
The measure of a man

Well, you can doubt your worth
And search for who you are
And where you stand
But God made you in His image
When He formed you in His hands
And He looks at you with mercy
And He sees you through His love
You're His child and that will always be enough
For there's more to what you're worth
Than you could ever comprehend

Chorus
Oh I say the measure of a man
Is not how tall you stand
How wealthy or intelligent you are
'Cause I've found out the measure of a man
God knows and understands
For He looks inside
To the bottom of your heart
And what's in the heart defines
The measure of a man

Bridge
You can spend your life persuing physical perfection
There is so much more
More than ever meets the eye
For God looks through the surface
And He defines your worth by what is on the inside

Chorus
I say the measure of a man
Is not how tall you stand
How wealthy or intelligent you are
'Cause I've found out the measure of a man
God knows and understands
For He looks inside
To the bottom of your heart
And what's in the heart defines

Oh, I say the measure of
The measure of a man
Is not how tall you stand,
How wealthy or intelligent you are
Oh, I've found the measure of a man
God knows and understands it
For He looks to the bottom of your heart
And what's in the heart defines
Yeah, what's in the heart defines
Yeah, what's in the heart defines
The measure of a man

Please Lord may you measure me by my heart, for you know the truth it holds.

A song to soothe your soul [30 May 2003|11:34am]

simplyme1
[ mood | calm ]

This song is my prayer to God. Whenever I am feeling overwhelmed or anxious I play this song a couple times, close my eyes, and make it my prayer. Then I feel the peace of God come over me. I love songs that soothe my soul.

Thank_you Jesus for beautiful soul-reaching music.

Man After Your Own Heart
Gary Chapman
Words and Music By: Wayne Kirkpatrick and Billy Sprague

O God, Father in heaven and earth
I call to You like deep calls to deep over water
Show me Your endless measure of grace
Let tender mercies shine once again
From Your holy face

Deep in my soul there's a craving
To please the One who has saved me
O God, Though I have fallen so far
You know that I'm still A man after Your own heart

I am driven by rivers of pride
You are my rescue
The Maker and Keeper of my life
Lead me by the still waters again
Use me in spite of the prodigal child
That You know I am

Just as a deer runs to water
So does my soul to You, Father
O God, though I have wandered so far
You know that I'm still
A man after Your own heart
I'm still a man after Your own heart

Sing Out

Free - - Ginny Owens [17 May 2003|10:39pm]

amazeofgrace

Turning molehills into mountains,
Making big deals out of small ones,
Bearing gifts as if they're burdens,
This is how it's been.
Fear of coming out of my shell,
Too many things I can't do too well,
Afraid I'll try real heard and I'll fail -
This is how it's been.
Till the day you pounded on my heart's door,
And you shouted joyfully,
"You're not a slave anymore"

You're free to dance-
Forget about your two left feet
And you're free to sing-
Even joyful noise is music to me
And you're free to love,
Cause I've given you My love,
and it's made you free
I have set you free

My mind finds hard to believe
That You became humanity
and changed the course of history,
Because You loved me so.
And my heart cannot understand
Why You'd accept me as I am,
But You say You've always had a plan,
And that's all I need to know.
So when I am consumed by what the world will say,
It's then You're singing to me,
As you remove my chains

Repeat chorus
Free from worry, free from envy and denial
Free to live, free to give, free to smile

Repeat chorus

Does anyone else like this song

The devil is bad by the W's
(swing)

She was walking in the garden one day
When a snake slithered round her feet
Follow me right over to this tree
And I'll give you something good to eat
I don't know, are you sure? I don't think it is right
It doesn't matter just open your mouth and take a tasty bite
She said to him I think it's a sin but boy does it look ripe
He said to her just take my word
And I promise that you'll see the light

(Chorus)
Why don't you skidilly-doo?
'Cause I don't wanna see your face round here no more
Why don't you skidilly-doo?
'Cause this is now and that was before
Cause you are the devil and the devil is bad (hey!),
you are the devil and the devil is bad (hey!),
you are the devil and the devil is bad (hey!),
you are the devil and you are bad

The tempter met him in the desert one day
Are You the Son of God?
Turn these stones into wholesome bread
And make your hunger stop
Even though his hunger had grown real strong
He turned and simply replied
Man does not live on bread alone but on the word of God.
Turn from him and worship me
And the kingdoms of the world are yours
Away from me with your evil ways
'Cause I worship and I serve only God

She was walking in the garden one day
When a snake slithered round her feet
Follow me right over to this tree
And I'll give you something good to eat
I don't know, are you sure? I don't think it is right
It doesn't matter just open your mouth and take a tasty bite
She said to him I think it's a sin but boy does it look ripe
He said to her just take my word
And I promise that you'll see the light

(Repeat Chorus)

Ten Shekel Shirt- Healer [08 May 2003|09:15am]

life_in_7
Healer heal me
Savior save me
Maker change me
Lover love me
Cuz I'm so tired of living for
The kind of love
That only lasts for a while
The pain, the shame
Tear me up inside

Chorus:
So I fall on my knees
To get back on my feet again
And I cry out for You
Would You please speak to me

Healer heal me
Savior save me
Maker change me
Lover love me
Cuz I'm so tired of living for
The kind of love
That only comes and goes
But Your love
Your love lasts forever

Chorus:
So I fall on my knees
To get back on my feet again
And I cry out for You
To hear you speak to me
Yes I fall on my knees
To get back on my feet again
And I run hard for You
To enter Your rest

life_in_7
chorus
It's nice to be at peace with You
It's fine with me to be close to You

My eyes are fixed on You, oh Lord
I see You, I see You
My hands are clean
My heart is pure
You washed me, thank You

I used to be attracted to
The things of this world
And I used to be at war with You
Now I'm fighting on Your side

chorus

My love for You is unashamed
I love You, I love You
My guilt is gone, I'm free to fly
Inside, inside

I used to be entangled by
The things of this world
And I used to seem so far from You
Now I feel You by my side
Sing Out

Ten Shekel Shirt [08 May 2003|09:14am]

life_in_7
You're calling me to lay aside the worries of my day
To quiet down my busy mind and find a hiding place
Worthy, You are worthy

I open up my heart and let my spirit worship Yours
I open up my mouth and let a song of praise come forth
Worthy, You are worthy

chorus
Of a child-like faith
And of my honest praise
And of my unashamed love
Of a holy life
And of my sacrifice
And of my unashamed love
